Job Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a designated Accountant to work directly with the entrepreneural principal. As the Accounting Manager you will be responsible for managing all the financial needs of the privately owned management company that invests in human resources and the employment service industry. The portfolio of the principal consisting of Real Estate properties along with one charity organization will also be your responsibility.  As this is a small office you will be required to handle the routine day to day accounting tasks and provide input through accurate reporting and data analysis.  We are also an office that values work life balance and would like to suggest a four day work week with this position.

 

Responsibilities will include but not necessarily be limited to:

 

-          Provide management and direction to various accounting functions to ensure delivery of financial information for decision making purposes

-          Provide guidance and direction to the principal

-          Through effective leadership, create a supportive and rewarding team based on the culture for the team including mentorship and development of staff

-          Responsible for the delivery of accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial results with supporting information to the business

-          Conduct detailed review of current accounting system and implement change to Simply Accounting with job costing

-          Key contact on finance issues with suppliers and customers

-          Support the principal with investment decisions by providing thorough reporting and data analysis.  This will often involve the production of ad-hoc financial reports on short notice

-          Act as a representative of the principal dealing with third parties such as banks, mortgage companies, accounting firms and other external entities

 

 

 

 

Requirements or Qualifications:

 

-          Accounting designation – CMA or CGA preferred

-          At least four years experiences in a senior accounting role with full cycle accounting  preferably with experience in the employment service sector, this will involve AP, AR, month end reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis. 

-          Compliance to GAAP is essential and knowledge of tax remittances and requirements

-          Ability to produce accurate and comprehensive reports in a timely manner

-          Comfortable with change and leading change

-          Superior interpersonal and communications skills

-          Ability to multi-task and effectively manage multiple projects

-          Accuracy and attention to detail is essential

-          Possess strong business acumen and bottom-line orientation as it relates to decision making which impacts the organization

-          Exercise good judgment and deals with issues in a balanced and fair manner
