Adventure and risk are things that Marilyn faces daily as she works diligently to provide the quality services you find here. She is The coordinator of the SCEC and Executive Director of M. Magas & Associates Inc.; the administrative body for SCEC and other services offered here. As a former teacher, and coordinator of the 'Working in Trades' program, Marilyn has 20+ years experience in career development. Marilyn strives to initiate new training and service opportunities to meet the unique needs of the residents of the community. She is responsible for ensuring the objectives of the programs are met and for reporting to the funders. Among Marilyn’s many credentials and acknowledgements is the Netty Award for Mentor of the Year in 2002.

Debbie started with SCEC in the Resource Center providing client support. Now, as Administrative Assistant, Debbie is primarily involved with clerical assistance to the front office with the financial/ management department. She occasionally still assists in other areas of the center and is never too busy to help clients with using computers, faxes or photocopiers.

Shelley has been apart of our team for the past 9 years and has taken on several roles at the Centre. With her effervescent personality and great deal of knowledge in a variety of areas Shelley will find out what your needs are and point you in the right direction.

Scott first came to the employment centre as a client and now administrates our technical systems as well as assists clients in the Resource Centre. Scott has worked with many large organizations including the CIBC and two TSE listed medical software companies. Scott currently holds a B.Sc., an MCSE as well as a Networking Specialist Diploma. When not in the office you will find Scott exploring the various trails across the Sunshine Coast.

Jesse Gemmell is a fantastic addition to our Resource Team. He is a youth counselor, teacher, athlete, and artist who has flourished in his broad range of pursuits. Jesse has a bachelors degree in Human and Social Development (Child and Youth Care) from the University of Victoria in 2000, and more recently has spent his years in Taos, NM, as a fine art reproduction photographer for noted artists. Throughout his broad travels, Jesse has excelled at developing and maintaining relationships with people from a wide spectrum of age, race, social backgrounds and ethnicities. Come in and meet Jesse, he will be happy to assist you, he certainly is an expert!

Noni comes to us with a background in social work and has worked in the social services sector for 15+ years. Noni is the Labour Market Researcher for the centre and helps us make sense of the changing dynamics in the labour force. Noni is MBTI and Strong certified for vocational testing and thoroughly enjoys the creative process of career exploration and discovery. Noni has been able to provide insight and awareness for even the most unusual situations.

Marion has worn 'many hats' as a staff member on the SC Employment Center team. She has worked in the Jobwave Program, Resource Center, coordinated the YAds (Young Adults Working Program) and presently, is an Employment Coach. Marion's background includes over 25 years of frontline work experience in Community & Social Service Programs, Volunteer Resource Management, Tourism, Employment and Holistic Healthcare.

Catherine, a friendly addition to the centre, brings with her 14 years experience with the Provincial Government, where she worked in many different capacities. Previously, she worked in Parks and Recreation and holds a Recreation Leadership Diploma from Langara, as well as being a graduate of the Outward Bound Leadership School.

Connie has a variety of roles within the Employment Centre, including the JOBWAVE program, resource support worker and Employer liaison. Her past experience in the social service industry, together with her education and training has given Connie a large degree of knowledge and capability to assist clients in meeting their employment goals.

Judy works with the ACHIEVE Program for Persons with Disabilities, helping disabled adults develop a plan for increased independence through employment and volunteer work. Having lived on the coast since 1975, Judy has worked as a teacher, a woodworker and as a vocational counselor. She believes in helping each person discover the activity that gives meaning and connection to the community. She supports the Abilities to Business Program at Community Futures in helping clients who choose self-employment as their path.

With an independent and entrepreneurial approach to work and life, she brings over two decades of administrative experience to the Aspire Self Employment Program. Since 1999, she has provided office and consulting services to small business, government and non-profit organizations on the Sunshine Coast and was instrumental in the creation and development of a regional Cultural Alliance. Francine is familiar with the challenges and opportunities that exist in our community and is knowledgeable of the array of resources available.

She is now excited to be working with the Aspire team as a co-director to assist others in making complex concepts simple and easy to understand.
